Mont Saint Michel in Normandy
Le Mont-Saint-Michel is a French commune located in the Manche department in Normandy which takes its name from a rocky islet dedicated to Saint Michel where today stands the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel.
The architecture of Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay make it the most frequented tourist site in Normandy and one of the ten most visited in France and even the first of the sites after those of Île-de-France with nearly two and a half million visitors each year.
A statue of Saint Michael placed at the top of the abbey church rises to 170 meters above the shore. A major element, the abbey and its outbuildings are classified as historical monuments; the town and the bay have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979.

Saint-Pierre church, at night ...
The village church is hung halfway down the single cobbled lane leading up to the abbey, in the heart of the village, the small church is dedicated to Saint Peter and since 1909 has been listed in the inventory of historical monuments. Built in the 11th century - only the pillars attest to it - but heavily altered in the 15th and 16th centuries, the Saint-Pierre church is covered with a slate roof and a small bell tower which surmount the single-bottom nave. -side, the choir is offset to the left.

Beautiful cult objects spread over the nave, the choir and the side chapels: an altar and its columned altarpiece dated 1660; a lectern in gilded wood surmounted by an eagle, symbol of Saint John, statues of Saint Anne teaching the child Mary

The salt meadows of Mont-Saint-Michel:
The sheep grazing area is made up of meadows regularly covered by the sea, salt marshes. This breeding makes it possible to maintain vast expanses of meadows. In addition, the substrate of this type of marsh is "the pitch which is made up of silt and very fine sands, rich in limestone (about 50% carbonate)". These salt meadows are crisscrossed by channels, locally called criches, which generate as many obstacles to the progress of the sheep.
